As an artist Stanley Boxer (American, 1926-2000) refused to be categorized by any style or movement. Regardless of the medium, Boxer preferred to let the process, whether it be painting, printmaking or sculpting or any combination thereof, take him where it would. He was known for his exuberant use of color and rich texturing. His works are included in the permanent collections of numerous museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.
